Donald Trump:
Donald Trump’s view on crimes is mostly that we should be more strict with crimes. He suggests that we bring back the death penalty and recruit more police. He is a big supporter of the “blue lives matter” movement.(http://www.ontheissues.org/Celeb/Donald_Trump_Crime.htm) This means that he believes that the police force’s lives should also be valued especially with recent attacks against them. Donald Trump's’ beliefs on drugs is close to Hillary Clinton’s views on drugs. He believes that we should slowly move to legalizing marijuana medically, than letting states decide whether or not it should be legal for the public. On the other hand, when it comes to harmful addictive drugs he says they should be cut off from society completely. "New Hampshire has a tremendous drug epidemic. Every time I go there, people come up to me and they say 'Mr. Trump What are we going to do? Drugs are pouring in' I'm going to create borders. No drugs are coming in. We're going to build a wall, you know what I'm talking about. You have confidence in me. Believe me, I will solve the problem. They will stop coming to New Hampshire. They'll stop coming to this country. And the people who are in trouble, the people that are addicted, we're going to help them. We're going to try and make them better, and will make them better”.(http://www.ontheissues.org/2016/Donald_Trump_Drugs.htm)
Gary Johnson:
Gary Johnson believes that if a state wants to legalize marijuana then the federal government shouldn’t stand in the way. He believes that the war on drugs was an expensive fail.(http://www.ontheissues.org/2016/Gary_Johnson_Drugs.htm) “We can save thousands of lives and billions of dollars by simply changing our approach to drug abuse.“ He believes that the people being locked up from the war on drugs are non violent criminals and we are spending way too much time and money on it. (http://www.ontheissues.org/2016/Gary_Johnson_Crime.htm)
Jill Stein:
When it comes to crime Jill believes that the prison system and the war on drugs are failing. She also says that capital punishment is barbaric and should not be allowed. It's barbaric. “It's outlawed internationally in all but a few extremely repressive countries like Iran, China, and not many others. It's shameful that it continues to be performed. It's well established that mistakes are made--yet half of our state's practice premeditated state-sponsored murder. It's also known that it's not effective. So why is it done? Revenge & retribution? That's not what our justice system is supposed to be about. It's not an effective deterrent.” http://www.ontheissues.org/2012/Jill_Stein_Crime.htm) When it comes to drugs Jill says that marijuana should be legalized but regulated. She also says that drug addictions and use is a public health issue not a criminal issue. (http://www.ontheissues.org/2012/Jill_Stein_Drugs.htm)
